Awesome wonder

I think there's no bad mood or ho-hum day that a night sky filled with hundreds of stars can't cure, especially when looking up at it with someone you love. I stargaze often because it reminds me of how awesome the universe is and how my little self and my bad day is not at the center of my world or THE world. Not only that but stars just fill me with wonder. So yesterday my boyfriend and I were star-gazing, and though I'd had a headache-filled looooooong day, all of that seemed to vanish in the distance as I craned my neck with him, looking up at twinkling lights, bright solid lights, and trying to put together the constellations. The star-filled sky is an awesome sight to behold, any night of the year on Long Island, but yesterday it just got decidedly more awesome as I gasped e

Kid Logic

I enjoy talking with kids cuz they say the funniest things. It's so refreshing how kids see the world sometimes--simple and matter-of-fact. I babysit my landlords' kids, and one of them is a little over 2 years old. Today I decided to brave the trampoline with him and after a lot of jumping, running, and falling over me, he stopped to sit down and have this conversation with me: Harrison, 2 years old, to me: "Can you hold my feet?"  Me: "Why?"  Harrison: "I don't want them any more."  Me: "You don't want them anymore?"  Harrison: "Yeah."  Me: "But they don't come off."  Harrison: "My shoes come off."  Me, trying not to laugh: "Yeah, but your feet don't."  Harrison: "Does your feet come off?"  Now that's what I call "kid logic". And I think it made my day. LOL!
